Rabobank - a different kind of bank

Rabobank is an online bank specialising in savings and investments. We don't offer traditional banking products like eftpos, cheques, high-interest loans, mortgages and credit cards. You can keep your existing bank for those services - just use Online Savings (RaboDirect) for savings and investments (without the hassle of switching banks).

We're not motivated by share price - as a cooperative banking group, we don't have one. We're not out to make enormous profits at the expense of our customers. And with over 10 million customers worldwide, this philosophy is clearly working!

Part of the Rabobank Group

Rabobank New Zealand and Australia Group is part of the world's leading food and agribusiness specialist bank, Rabobank. In New Zealand and Australia, Rabobank is one of the largest rural lenders and a significant provider of corporate financial services to the food and agribusiness sectors.

Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A. began as a rural credit cooperative in the Netherlands in 1898. Founded on cooperative principles, the Rabobank Group is now the largest financial services provider in the Netherlands and operates in 48 countries, with 1,600 offices and branches, employing more than 60,000 people, and servicing 10 million clients worldwide.

We fund rural New Zealand

Money invested with Rabobank is used to fund New Zealand food and agribusiness.

Here, Rabobank works hand-in-hand with New Zealand's rural community, with specialist rural banking finance managers, located in all major agricultural regions in New Zealand.

Their success lies with leveraging their local 'on-farm' expert knowledge, global strength and experience to deliver a deeper understanding of rural businesses and build stronger relationships.

Rabobank New Zealand and Australia

Rabobank established an office in Australia in 1990 and New Zealand in 1994, and now has 33 branches in New Zealand and over 60 branches in Australia.

The bank has continued to expand and develop its operations in both countries in the years since.

As a result, the bank can deliver a broad portfolio of products and a level of expertise surpassing any others in the market.

As part of the world's leading food and agribusiness bank, Rabobank New Zealand and Australia is uniquely placed to leverage vast international resources and networks for the benefit of local clients.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Online Savings (RaboDirect) is part of the Rabobank Group - and shares their mission and values about becoming a sustainable business. Rabobank recognises that doing business in today's global environment involves much more than just producing financial returns.

We believe in achieving a balance between the social, ethical, environmental and financial aspects of business, while still taking into account the interests of our clients, our employees and our stakeholders.

Rabobank is committed to leaving a small footprint on the planet. In an attempt to minimise the impact our business has on the environment, we have developed a program that we refer to as Rabobank and the Environment, to ensure that our work practices are sustainable. Directly or indirectly these initiatives give all employees the opportunity to influence the way we leave the environment for future generations.

Through the Community Leave and Workplace Giving initiatives, employees are encouraged to support local causes that are of interest and importance to them. They offer all employees the opportunity to actively participate in their community in the way that they choose, by either sharing their time and skills, or by making a financial contribution.
